Phil Hooley

Phil Hooley vocals, acoustic guitar

The Woolgatherers is the brainchild of songwriter Phil Hooley. Whose former bands include Phil Hooley and the Hooligans, The Blackheads, Georgia Moon, The Tadpoles, Foggy & Groggy as well as his busy solo career.

Phil has been writing songs for several years, and the album ‘The Woolgatherers ..... Long Way to Indigo' is something of a milestone, and has received excellent reviews. The collection of songs reflects a maturity in his songwriting, with heartfelt lyrics, and tunes that creep unerringly into your consciousness.

Being primarily a songwriter rather than a performer, Phil is a member of the Guild of International Songwriters, and has been a semi-finalist in the UK Song Writing Contest, with two songs being commended.

Phil cites many sources of inspiration for his writing, including Guy Clark, John Prine, Dylan, Jagger & Richards as well as a strong Irish influence. He formed ‘The Woolgatherers' in 2007, with musicians drawn from a number of local bands. Each bring their own virtuoso performances to the album.

Phil is currently working on a follow up album, which is keenly awaited.
